Saturday Singles Quick Quotes September 9, 2011 By The R&A and USGA

Peter Uihlein

Team GB&I played great this morning. I made some pretty greasy pars this afternoon and it went my way. He’s such a nice kid, great player. I’m sure he’s got a big future.

(Asked if he changed anything from this morning?)

I didn’t feel we played too bad. They just played great this morning. It’s easier (playing singles) because you can get more into the rhythm of your game. As the weather got worse I felt I was swinging better.

Jack Senior

It’s a different emotion obviously. I feel I played really solid golf. Unfortunately on the front nine I hit two really good shots that went over the back into impossible spots really to get up and down. He then birdied nine and birdied 10, it was an uphill battle from there really.

(Asked about the effect his change of caddy had)

Obviously it’s going to affect your performance saying you’ve got to change caddy 25 minutes before you go out. I mean, I’m not too pleased about it but I feel I did my best not to let it affect my play.

Harris English

That’s the great thing about match play, anything can happen. He was playing well on the front nine and I was playing pretty well except for one hole and I was four down.

(Asked was there a turning point)

Definitely on eight and nine, he made two bogeys and I got it back to two down. At 10 he made a birdie to go back to three-up and then I made a long one at 11 to halve it from off the green. I just stayed in there and managed to turn the tide of the match.

Rhys Pugh

A fabulous match, it felt like a bit of a dream. It was probably the best I’ve ever seen on those first five holes to be honest, on this course. Just stay patient, the back nine is tough into the wind so I thought, just keep going. I just stuck to my game plan and played one shot at a time.
