The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo., as the host site of the 2015 USGA Women’s State Team Championship. The championship, which is scheduled Sept. 10-12, will be the first USGA competition held at Dalhousie Golf Club.

The course at Dalhousie Golf Club, which opened in 2002, was designed by Nicklaus Design, with Gary Nicklaus as the principal architect. The course occupies land originally settled in 1798 by Scottish immigrant, Rebecca Ramsey, sister of the Earl of Dalhousie.

“This is our first time hosting a USGA championship, and the members and the community are beyond thrilled and excited,” said Cord Dombrowski, the managing partner of Dalhousie Golf Club. “Even though the championship is in 2015, we’re ready.”

“The USGA is pleased to bring the 2015 Women’s State Team Championship to Dalhousie Golf Club and the state of Missouri,” said USGA Championship Committee Chairman Thomas J. O’Toole Jr. “We expect the course to be an outstanding test for the competitors and the community of Cape Girardeau will surely give a generous touch of Midwestern hospitality to all teams and visitors.”

This will be the 19th USGA championship conducted in the state of Missouri, dating to the 1921 U.S. Amateur at St. Louis Country Club. The 2014 Curtis Cup will be held at St. Louis Country Club. The Country Club of St. Albans in suburban St. Louis hosted the most recent championship, the USGA Men’s State Team in 2009.

Dalhousie Golf Club hosted the 2012 Missouri State Amateur Championship as well as the 2009 AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions.
The USGA Men’s and Women’s State Team Championships grew out of the celebration of the USGA’s centennial in 1995 and have since been held biennially. Starting in 2010, the Men’s State Team has been conducted in even–numbered years and the Women’s State Team in odd-numbered years.

The championships are open to players from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. State associations may use any criteria of their choosing in selecting their teams, which comprise three amateur, non-college golfers.

The 2013 USGA Women’s State Team will be played on the South Course at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, Sept. 17-19. Georgia has claimed the last two titles.
