You had a great USA team at Merion. What stands out from that week?

It was just amazing. It was the greatest experience an amateur player could ever ask for. It was a dream come true for me to play on a team representing my country and to be with so many great guys, great players. And having a great captain in Buddy [Marucci], that was extra special because we were playing on his home course and we were all pretty fired up to play well.

You won 2 1/2 points for USA. Good week for you.

Yeah, I played well. I remember being pretty nervous, especially because I got to hit the first tee shot of the matches (on Friday) playing with Brian Harman. That was a huge honor. I was just glad at the end of it that I was able to help the team.

What do you attribute to your good play?

I think just playing at Merion, one of my favorite courses. Plus, like I said, we had a great team, and that sort of helps you relax when you know a group of guys like that has your back.

What did you learn from the week?

Well, when you're an amateur, the two goals you have are to win the U.S. Amateur and to make the Walker Cup team. So for me, the learning process was first of all playing my way onto the team because I really wanted to make the Walker Cup. I think it was an all-around great experience learning to play with a teammate and that can prepare you, hopefully, down the road for the Ryder Cup. Just look at Rickie (Fowler) and what he did. You know, there's a lot that's riding on the matches and to learn to play with that pressure can only help you.
